In 1860, Edouard Heuer, a young Swiss watchmaker, founded his own workshop in Saint Imier, the Ed Heuer & Co, in the heart of the Jura mountains. Edouard had an obsession: time and exploring with complicated mechanical instruments the tiniest fractions of this mysterious and mystical dimension which has captured human imagination since the dawn of mankind. 156 years later, TAG Heuer is the world leader in prestigious and high-precision chronographs, and the only Swiss watch company to master, with its own mechanical chronograph movements, the 1/10th, 1/100th and 1/1,000th of a second.
Thanks to a relentless quest for innovation, a passionate pioneering spirit, and an uncompromising determination to push further the limits of mechanical watchmaking art, Edouard’s dreams have been partly accomplished. Edouard still today serves as Honorary Chairman of the Company and celebrated his 80th birthday in 2012.
